Marietta Special Events

Marietta Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department provides the Marietta/Cobb County community with many special events during the year including free concerts and visits with Santa. Many of our events are held in Glover Park on the Marietta Square. Whether it's an arts and crafts festival, parade or holiday event, our special events division is sure to have something to interest you.

Special Event Applications & Information

The application procedures for hosting a special event in the City of Marietta have changed slightly. Any event that requires street closures (with the exception of road races and parades) will have to submit a completed Special Events Application (PDF) by the 2nd Friday of December for an event taking place in the following calendar year. For example, if your event is scheduled for May 2017, then your application will be due by the 2nd Friday of December 2016.

For your event to be eligible for consideration, whether or not street closures are requested, the following information must be completed and submitted to the Special Events Division.

  1.     Special Event Guidelines and Application (PDF) - This is where you will find the application and guidelines outlining all important special event information.
  2.     All special events are required to carry insurance to protect all persons and property involved. Events are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) as well as an insurance endorsement. These are two (2) very different items. The following documents provide information on insurance requirements and an insurance endorsement sample.
  •         Insurance Guidelines (PDF) Opens a New Window.
  •         Insurance Endorsement Sample (PDF) Opens a New Window.
  1.    Lastly, the City of Marietta requires a signed Hold Harmless Agreement (PDF) Opens a New Window. as part of your special event application packet.
Completed Applications
Completed applications and/or special event questions can be emailed to Maggi Moss, or via phone at 770-794-5609.

Note: If your event is a road race (5K/10K etc.) or involves a parade, you will have to submit a completed Parade / Race Permit Application (PDF) Opens a New Window. to Marty Ferrell, with the Marietta Police department.

Events Not Requiring Street Closures
For all other events not requiring street closures, and requiring limited use of Glover Park (as described in the special events guidelines) you may use the Press Release / Announcement Application (PDF) Opens a New Window. for your event. These events do not have an application deadline and can be submitted throughout the year.

Thank You
Thank you for your interest in having a special event in the City of Marietta.

How to Clean Mini Blinds

Mini-blinds are very convenient and attractive window treatments. They typically have either vertical or horizontal slats, and are woven either from natural or synthetic reeds.

The only disadvantage they have is that they cannot be cleaned easily. Cleaning mini blinds doesn't require strength - it requires delicate handling. The following instructions should help clarify how to clean them.

As a first step, you should vacuum-clean them while the mini blinds are still hanging on your window. This process will help to remove excess dust. Next, you should remove the mini-blinds from the window and take them either outside or to the bathroom for a wet wash.

For the liquid washing component, you will need a hose, a clothesline, a bucket and a sponge. Make a mixture of one-part water, to one-part ammonia in the bucket. Gently apply the mixture on the mini-blinds, front and back. Allow the mixture to stand on the blinds for about five minutes, after which you just hose them. Wipe the mini-blinds with a soft cloth and hang them on the clothesline to dry.

To help prevent dust buildup, rub down the mini-blinds with an anti-static dryer sheet.

The above instructions are most relevant for cleaning cloth mini blinds. However, on the other hand, if your mini blinds are made of wood, clean them like you clean any of your wood furniture.
